In the bustling landscape of scholarly and medical publishing, conferences are indispensable opportunities for networking, collaboration, and innovation, especially for smaller companies such as Cabells. This spring, we’re looking forward to revisiting a few of our favorite meetings to discuss our sustainability-focused projects and reconnect with valued colleagues across the industry. We’re also fortunate and excited to have the chance to continue to blaze our trail in the medical education and research universe, with one return trip and one first-time visit.

In April, we’ll be attending the AACSB’s International Conference and Annual Meeting (ICAM) 2024 in Atlanta, and, for the first time, SHM Converge, the Society of Hospital Medicine’s annual conference, taking place in San Diego. Then, in May, we’ll head once again to the Medical Library Association’s (MLA) annual conference, this year taking place in Portland, OR, followed by the PRME North American Chapter Biennial meeting at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. In June, we look forward to lending our support once again to the PRME Global Forum which will be virtual, as well as the 2024 Responsible Research Summit to be hosted by the Cambridge Judge Business School in Cambridge, UK. More details on these events will be coming this spring.

SHM Converge in San Diego

This year will be our first time attending the Society of Hospital Medicine’s annual conference and we’re looking forward to making new connections in beautiful San Diego. We can’t think of a better setting in which to show many of the minds shaping the future of hospital medicine the impact the Journalytics Medicine platform can have on their research. If you will be attending SHM Converge, be sure to stop by our booth (636) to say hello to our new Director of Sales, Candice (schedule a meeting with her here if you’d like).

AACSB ICAM in Atlanta

Cabells began as a print directory of business journal contact information more than 40 years ago. Since then, we’ve grown and evolved into a robust platform with curated intelligence on more than 22,000 quality scholarly and medical journals (and 18,000 predatory journals). Our roots remain strong within the business community and we’re excited each year for the chance to reconnect. This year, members of the Cabells leadership team will be in attendance to champion our collaboration with David Steingard and his team from Saint Joseph’s University’s Haub School of Business to develop the SDG Impact IntensityTM (SDGII) journal rating, a publisher-neutral, AI-driven academic rating system assessing scholarly impact on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

ICAM 2024 will also mark the formal debut of ChatSDG, an AI tool that provides a framework and metrics for measuring the impact of research on business and society. ChatSDG builds on the success of the SDGII initiative and, though still in its pilot phase, holds tremendous potential for positive change by promoting sustainability in business education.

MLA ’24 in Portland, OR

MLA ’24 will mark our third time attending the Medical Library Association’s annual conference and the organizers have always done an outstanding job of gathering healthcare professionals, librarians, and researchers – leaders and innovators in health information sciences – in an engaging environment. After fruitful gatherings with the MLA community in New Orleans in ’22 and Detroit in ’23, we’re excited to see what’s in store for Portland. If you’ll be at MLA ’24, don’t miss the chance to have a chat with Candice in booth 721.

PRME Chapter NA Biennial Meeting in British Columbia

After an inspiring and eye-opening experience at the PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) North American Chapter biennial meeting in 2022, we’re proud to once again support this year’s meeting, taking place at the University of Victoria, in the beautiful and lush capital city of the Canadian province of British Columbia. Cabells will be there as sponsors of the meeting and as participants, along with our friends from SJU, to discuss ways to turn sustainability-focused research into action and update attendees on the exciting developments with our SDGII initiatives.

So, we’re looking forward to a busy, productive, and inspiring spring and welcome the opportunities and experiences these gatherings will provide. Cabells will continue to devote our time and resources to strengthening our commitment to advancing scholarship and research and driving positive change, within academia and beyond.
