BEAUMONT, TX: Cabells – the US-based information services company – has today launched Pathfinder, a new online tool that maps academic research to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Available to users of Cabells’ market-leading publications platform Journalytics, Pathfinder uses AI to match an abstract, introduction or summary of a paper to the 17 SDGs. Researchers can see which SDGs best align with their work, helping them understand and report on how their research contributes to meaningful global impact.

“Vital for researchers now and in the longer term”

With increasing numbers of publishing considerations, researchers require new and better information resources to optimize their decision-making. Cabells’ Journalytics now combines independent, verified journal data across social science, medicine and STEM areas with AI-powered tools that make searching easier. Pathfinder, new in 2026, joins CompassAI in supporting researchers not only identify the best journals across a range of data points, but also how their own work maps to the UN SDGs.

Commenting on the launch of Pathfinder, Cabells Chief Commercial Officer Simon Linacre said: “I have been working with the SDGs for over a decade, and at Cabells we share their aim to make the world more equitable and sustainable for everyone.

“We have developed Pathfinder to help researchers, institutions and funding bodies see how their work connects to the goals and show the contribution it makes. It is likely the SDGs will persist in some form beyond 2030, so this tool should prove vital now and in the longer term in recording the impact of their research.”

Pathfinder can be accessed via a full subscription to Cabells’ Journalytics platform, which now includes data on the 20,000+ journals in its Predatory Reports database. For more information, please visit https://cabells.com or contact Cabells at info@cabells.com.
