Hundreds of leaders in business education gathered in Denver, Colorado earlier this week for the AACSB Americas Accreditation Conference. Discussions focused largely on using AI to enhance accreditation and institutional excellence through quality improvement, societal impact, and developing impactful strategic plans for students and other stakeholders. Several members of the Cabells team, joined by David Steingard from Saint Joseph’s University (home of the Haub School of Business SDG Dashboard), were excited to be on hand for the meeting to show how we’re collaborating to highlight the importance of (and how to go about) evaluating the societal impact of research.

From L to R: Nathan Toutloff, Yasmeen Moss, David Steingard, and Brian Schwaab at the Americas Accreditation Conference in Denver.

In Denver, David was joined by Cabells project coordinator Nathan Toutloff to present “ChatSDG: GenAI for Standard 8,” a session demonstrating how ChatSDG can assist with AACSB Accreditation Standard 8: Impact of Scholarship data collection, analysis, and reporting for continuous improvement reviews.

The gathering in Denver dovetailed perfectly with our engaging and lively September AACSB webinar, Assessing SDG Impact: Elevating and Measuring the Societal Impact of Research, which was attended by hundreds of stakeholders across the business education landscape and beyond. Our goals going into the session were to continue to raise awareness of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), stress the importance of measuring the SDG impact of research, and highlight ChatSDG and the SDG Impact Intensity (SDGII), AI tools for evaluating the SDG impact of articles and journals, respectively.

We will continue our work on these promising and already impactful projects with SJU and will report on our progress here. Catch up on the work we’ve been doing here, or visit sdgdashboard.sju.edu to learn more about these initiatives.
